American PCS Cybersecurity Grants

American PCS is committed to enhancing cybersecurity for nonprofit organizations, which often lack the resources to protect their important data and digital assets. Recognizing this critical need, we have established a dedicated grant fund at the Community Foundation for Western Iowa to empower nonprofits in the Council Bluffs and Omaha Metro Area through best-in-class cybersecurity services.

 

These cybersecurity grants offer eligible nonprofits access to comprehensive cybersecurity services designed to safeguard their operations against cyber threats, so they can continue to serve the public without disruption. We invite all qualifying nonprofits to apply for this opportunity.

 

There are many cybersecurity tools that can help strengthen your organization’s defenses.  After much consideration, we’ve combined two of the most impactful services - penetration testing and a comprehensive cybersecurity assessment - into a single grant opportunity. This combined approach provides greater insight and protection against cyber threats and is the focus of our updated grant program.
Penetration Test and Cybersecurity Assessment Grant Application

Penetration testing, also known as pen testing, is a simulated cyberattack on your network and systems designed to uncover exploitable vulnerabilities before hackers can take advantage of them.  It’s a proactive way to identify gaps in your cybersecurity defenses and address them before it’s too late.

Paired with a cybersecurity assessment - a comprehensive evaluation of your organization’s network, systems, and email - this combined approach offers a full-spectrum view of your security posture.  Together, these services help ensure best practices are being followed, uncover hidden risks, and provide clear, prioritized remediation guidance.

 

Regular testing and assessments are essential for defending against the constantly evolving threat landscape and for protecting the sensitive data and operations that nonprofits depend on every day.

 

Once the testing and assessment are complete, American PCS will deliver a detailed report outlining key findings, prioritized risks, and actionable remediation guidance. We also include up to four hours of dedicated review time to walk through the results, explain the associated risks, and help you develop a clear plan to correct any identified issues - ensuring you’re not just informed, but fully equipped to strengthen your cybersecurity.

 

Program Details
  • $7,500 Combined Penetration Test and Cybersecurity Assessment
  • $5,000 Maximum Grant Award per Organization
  • $2,500 Total Cost to Approved Nonprofits Receiving Full Grant Funds

 

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
  • Headquarters located in Iowa or Nebraska
  • Complete and submit the Cybersecurity Grant Application by June 1, 2025
